When the rope drops at Walt Disney World and Cinderella’s castle is in view, the air fills with excitement, wonder, and the promise of endless magic. Yet, for families like mine, where a child with sensory sensitivities experiences the world a tad differently than most, that magic can sometimes feel overshadowed by overwhelming sights and sounds. But I think I’ve discovered the secret: it’s all about how you choose to approach it. Over the years, I’ve learned to navigate the parks with a unique perspective, transforming what could be a daunting experience into our cherished home away from home. Join me as I share some of my go to tips on my journey of capturing the magic. Proving that with the right mindset and a few of my tried and true strategies, the happiest place on Earth can truly become a magical world of wonder and joy for any family.
Utilizing the early entry perk when staying on Walt Disney World Property- this ensures you are able to get on multiple rides, with minimal wait times all before the park even opens. This helps you beat the heat, crowds and sensory overload.
Go super early or a tad later! This gives you a better chance of missing the big overwhelming crowds. It also ensures a better, longer character experience at those character dinings.
Go back to your resort room when the sun is at its hottest and crowds are at their highest. This ensures your little one can have some quiet time whether that’s playing with Barbie’s, having a snack or taking a nap they are sure to recharge so you can head back to the parks again for dinner, cooler temperatures and lower crowds.
