Disney Cruise Line Ships: A Simple Breakdown of Each One

If you’re looking at Disney Cruise Line, one of the first questions is always: Which ship should we pick? The truth is… they’re all great. But each ship has a different vibe, layout, and “best for” depending on your family and what kind of trip you want.

Here’s a quick breakdown of the fleet, including the newest ships.

Disney Magic & Disney Wonder

These are the original Disney ships and they’re smaller than the others, which can feel more relaxed and easier to navigate.

Great for:

  • families who want a calmer onboard feel
  • first-time Disney cruisers
  • Alaska and international itineraries (depending on season)

Disney Dream & Disney Fantasy

These are the bigger “classic” ships a lot of families think of when they picture Disney Cruise Line.

Known for:

  • more onboard activities and spaces
  • the AquaDuck water coaster
  • a great mix of family fun + adult-only areas

Disney Wish

The Wish is newer and feels very immersive and themed, with some unique dining and lounge experiences. It’s a little different in layout than the older ships, so it can feel busier, but it’s incredibly fun if you love that “new ship” energy.

Disney Treasure

Treasure is part of the same class as the Wish and leans into an adventure-style theme. If you want the newest style of ship but aren’t set on the Wish specifically, Treasure is a great option to look at.

Disney Destiny

Destiny is also in the Wish-class family and continues that highly themed style. Disney has shared highlights like Pride Lands: Feast of The Lion King, De Vil’s, and the Haunted Mansion Parlor, so if you love Disney storytelling and themed spaces, this ship will be a big draw.

Disney Adventure

Disney Adventure is a little different because it’s being marketed as sailing from Singapore, with itineraries currently listed out of Singapore. So it’s an amazing option if you’re specifically planning Asia/Southeast Asia travel, but it may not be the right fit for most families looking for the typical Florida-based Disney cruise experience.

So… Which Disney Cruise Ship Is Best?

It really depends on:

  • how “new ship” themed you want the experience to feel
  • your itinerary preference (Bahamas/Caribbean vs Alaska vs international)
  • your family’s pace (calm and classic vs lots going on)

If you tell me what you’re looking for, I can recommend the best ship + sailing combo and help you choose the right stateroom category, too.
